The Journey Begins

Major infection had taken over my whole body as a result of emergency surgery just a few days earlier. I’m sure that I appeared to be unconscious to anyone who looked at me when the doctors announced, “We’ve done all we can. We’re not sure he’s going to make it.” I could not speak but I shouted inside, “That’s crazy! I’m not going to die!” Within a matter of moments I witnessed the process of slowly emptying out of my dying body.

I soon “popped” out of my body and looked down at it from just above. At first, I did not recognize it but then I realized it was “me”. Or was it? “How could it be me when I’m up here looking at that tiny, empty shell?” That was the moment I realized that nobody really dies…

As my journey continued I was greeted by six loving beings. I saw other souls departing as I entered an expanding tunnel and then a brilliant golden “light” appeared in the distance. Once I entered the light, for what seemed like an eternity, I was completely absorbed by its warm healing value. Then I continued on into an almost infinite, expanding field of subtler and subtler layers of creation. Finally I saw one last particle just as I left the field of manifested creation.

Here, there was nothing to know, to be, or to do. It was just pure source and unmanifested potential to become manifested creation. I could only say what it was in the moment I magically “popped” back into that subtlest beginning layer of manifesting creation. It was in that moment that I realized the who, what, when, where, why, and how of our being. I understood our purpose and experienced our underlying and eternal connection to all creation.

Upon returning to my body, I had no memory of ever having been here before. I did not know who I was, where I was, or even what I was. It was as if one life had ended and a new one began. All I knew was what I had just experienced my self and all creation to be; and thus began yet another amazing journey…
